Terms of Service

Effective date: 10 October 2026

These terms are written in plain language for a personal project. They are not a substitute for professional legal advice, and a qualified Nepali legal professional should review them before BillSplit is offered more widely. The clauses below state a position rather than deferring a question, so that you know what you are agreeing to today.

1. Agreement

By creating an account or using BillSplit, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. What BillSplit is

BillSplit is an Android application for recording shared expenses within a group and tracking balances between group members. It is operated by BillSplit (बाँडफाँट) as an independent personal project in Nepal.

BillSplit is provided as-is. It is not a licensed accounting, bookkeeping, banking, or financial service, and it must not be relied on for statutory accounting, tax filing, or audit purposes.

3. Eligibility and accounts

4. Group membership and shared visibility

A group is a shared space. Every member of a group can see every bill, every share, and every settlement recorded in it.

5. Acceptable use

You must not use BillSplit to:

On the website, you must also not click on ads artificially, or encourage anyone else to, and you must not use automated tools to generate ad impressions or clicks.

6. Your content and your rights in it

You keep ownership of the bills, notes and comments you create. You grant BillSplit (बाँडफाँट) a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to host, store, process, transmit and display that content to the members of your group, and to display it to you, for the sole purpose of operating the service. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for content that other group members retain.

You confirm that you have the right to enter the content you submit, and that submitting it does not infringe anyone else’s rights.

7. Third-party services and installation

BillSplit is distributed as an APK from our own website rather than through the Google Play Store. To install it you must allow your device to install applications from outside the Play Store. You do so at your own risk.

BillSplit uses Google Firebase Cloud Messaging for push notifications, and is hosted on Amazon Web Services, Render and Cloudflare infrastructure outside Nepal. The website displays advertising provided by Google AdSense. Your use of those services is subject to their own terms, and we are not responsible for the content of third-party advertisements or the sites they link to.

8. Fees

BillSplit is currently provided free of charge. We may introduce paid features in future, and will give reasonable notice before any change that costs you money.

9. Suspension and termination

You may stop using BillSplit and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, that is used to harass or defraud others, or that we are required to act upon by law. Where lawful, we will tell you why.

10. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, BillSplit is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that calculations will always be correct. You remain responsible for verifying any amount before you rely on it.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, BillSplit (बाँडफाँट) and anyone involved in operating BillSplit will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, or for loss of profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising from your use of the service, even if we were advised such loss was possible.

Statutory carve-out. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. In particular, consumer protection law in Nepal may limit the effect of the clauses above in respect of consumers, and the Privacy Act 2075 (2018) may impose duties that cannot be contracted out of. Where a clause below conflicts with such a law, the law prevails and the clause is read down to the extent necessary.

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify BillSplit (बाँडफाँट) against claims arising from your use of the service, your breach of these terms, or your infringement of anyone else’s rights, to the extent permitted by law.

13. Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms. The effective date at the top reflects the current version. Material changes will be presented in the app for acceptance before you continue to use the service. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the revised terms.

14. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Nepal. The courts of Nepal have exclusive jurisdiction. Before litigation, please raise the issue with us at support@billsplit.abhinash.info.np so we can try to resolve it.

15. Severability and general

If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in force. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between us regarding BillSplit.
